Supreme Court Announces Two Vacancies on Legal Services Advisory Committee

Posted: Friday, March 23, 2012

The Supreme Court is seeking to fill two positions on the Legal Services Advisory Committee.  Both openings are for attorney representatives.  Members would be appointed to three-year terms starting July 1, 2012.

The Legal Services Advisory Committee receives funds from the Legislature, Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) revenue, and attorney license fees to support civil legal services programs serving low-come clients.  The committee reviews grant applications and decides how to award money to eligible programs.  The committee is comprised of seven lawyers, two non-lawyer members, and two client-eligible members.  The committee meets several times per year.  Meeting expenses can be reimbursed.  More information about the committee is available at www.mncourts.gov/lsac

To be considered for these openings, submit a letter of interest to Bridget Gernander, Clerk of Appellate Courts, 25 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN, 55155, by April 27, 2012.  In the letter, include a description of your interest in the legal needs of low-income Minnesotans or highlight experience with legal services.
