Posted: Friday, May 30, 2014

The Supreme Court is seeking attorneys, judges, and court administrators familiar with practice under the Special Rules of Procedure Governing Proceedings Under the Minnesota Commitment and Treatment Act to fill numerous vacancies on the Advisory Committee for those rules. The Advisory Committee is responsible for reviewing the rules governing proceedings under Minnesota Statutes Chapters 253B and 253D, and proposing amendments to those rules. Once appointed, the committee’s initial focus will include a review of the rules for proposed or necessary amendments to accommodate electronic filing and service in the district courts. Due to the anticipated schedule for implementation of electronic filing and service, the committee’s first meeting will be in September 2014. Applicants must be able to participate in the work of the Committee based on its intended delivery of a report to the Court, with recommended changes or amendments, by December 2014. Term of service is limited to three years, renewable at the discretion of the Court for an additional term.

The application deadline is Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Persons interested in becoming a member of the committee should send a letter of interest and a resume to AnnMarie O’Neill, Clerk of the Appellate Courts, 25 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN, 55155.
