  • Court Room Technology: Judge Pendleton designed and helped implement the MN Judicial Branch's first fully integrated, state of the art, electronic courtroom, located in Sherburne County, opened to the public May 7, 2002.

High-Profile or Notable Cases:

  • Presiding Judge, State v. Jones, 678 N.W.2d 1 (2004) convicted of 1st Degree Murder (life imprisonment)
  • Attorney in charge of the 1998 Minneapolis Holidazzle crash investigation
  • Prosecuted Ryan Pederson convicted on one count of 1st degree murder (jury trial, 1999)
  • Prosecuted Steve Schrieber convicted on 2 counts of 1st degree murder (jury trial, 1996)
  • Prosecuted Earl Greise convicted on 2 counts of 1st degree murder (jury trial, 1995)
  • Prosecuted Patrick Walsh convicted on one count of 1st degree murder (jury trial, 1992)
  • The Walsh Prosecution and trial was featured in a Jan. 2004 nationally televised episode of Forensic Files on the Court TV cable channel

In all of the above noted cases, Judge Pendleton helped pioneer the use of comprehensive multimedia computer generated closing arguments by incorporating the use of text, diagrams, photos, video playbacks, and sound recordings that included elements of re-enactments. Judge Pendleton worked closely with Forensic Pathologist Dr. Dan Davis (who is nationally recognized in the field of computer animation) in introducing the use of such technology into Minnesota criminal trial proceedings.
