Appointed by Governor Arne Carlson and later elected in 2000, 2006, and 2012 for six-year terms.  Chambered in Stillwater, duties involve travel to Forest Lake and Cottage Grove for court plus travel to preside in the seven other counties within the judicial district from time to time.
