Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Christina K. Stevens to a Third Judicial District trial court bench vacancy in the city of Rochester in Olmsted County.  The vacancy occurred with the retirement of the Honorable Lawrence E. Agerter on May 7, 2010.

Stevens is an associate attorney with the Dunlap and Seeger law firm in Rochester, a position she has held since 2001.  In addition, she has served as an Olmsted County Conciliation Court Referee since 2009.  Previously, she was an attorney with the Bagniefski and Murakami law firm in Rochester from 2000 to 2001, a staff attorney with Ceridian Performance Partners in Eagan from 2000 to 2001, and an associate attorney with the Kenneth J. Jacobs Law Office in Forest Lake from 1998 to 2000.  Stevens earned her juris doctorate degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul in 1997, and her bachelor of arts degree from Minnesota State University, Moorhead in 1995.

“Christina has a professional background in family law, which will be a benefit to the bench in Olmsted County,” Governor Pawlenty said.  “In addition, her work as a conciliation court referee and in alternative dispute resolution has helped prepare her for this position.”

Stevens is a member of the Minnesota and Olmsted County Bar Associations, has served on the Third and Fifth Judicial Districts Early Neutral Evaluation Task Force pilot program, Southern Minnesota Family Law Collaborative, and has been listed as a “Rising Star” in Minnesota Law and Politics.  She is currently the president of the Chosen Valley Community Foundation Board of Directors, vice president of the Children’s Museum of Rochester Board of Directors, has served on the Rochester Habitat for Humanity and River Trails Girl Scout Council boards of directors, and was a member of the 2009 Leadership Greater Rochester class, a program of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce.

Stevens, 37, was born in Minot, North Dakota, and lives in Chatfield with her husband, Jeremy, and their three sons, Samuel,9, Isaac, 6, and Jacob, 4.
