Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Mr. Charles Glasrud as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Eighth Judicial District.  Glasrud will be replacing The Honorable Peter A. Hoff, who retired on January 31, 2011.  

Mr. Glasrud is currently the Stevens County Attorney.  He also serves as City Attorney for Morris and other nearby cities.  In his private practice at Glasrud & Economou, P.A., he concentrates on family law and general litigation, and also handles a wide range of diverse civil law matters. 

In addition to his public service and private practice, Mr. Glasrud dedicates a significant amount of time and energy to pro bono legal activities, as well as other volunteer work in the community.  Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota has recognized his efforts by awarding him the Advocacy Achievement Award.  Mr. Glasrud earned his B.A. from Kenyon College in 1977 and his J.D. from Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1981.  

About the appointment, Governor Dayton said, “I am very pleased to announce my appointment of Mr. Charles Glasrud to the Eighth Judicial District.  Mr. Glasrud’s legal practice has been wide and varied, and his diverse experience makes him well-qualified to serve on the Eighth Judicial District Court.  He has demonstrated a serious commitment to public service, and has deep roots in the community, which will serve him well in his new role as judge.” 

Mr. Glasrud resides with his family in Morris. The Eighth Judicial District serves Big Stone, Chippewa, Grant, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Meeker, Pope, Renville, Stevens, Swift, Traverse, Wilkin and Yellow Medicine Counties.
