Hennepin County District Court Adapts to Super Bowl

Posted: Monday, January 29, 2018

All eight Hennepin County District Court courthouses will be open during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including the week prior to the game from Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 2.

Due to Super Bowl LII taking place Feb. 4 at US Bank Stadium, many hearings have been redistributed to other weeks and to Hennepin County court locations outside downtown Minneapolis, to court facilities in Brooklyn Center, Edina and Minnetonka. Hearings in downtown Minneapolis will be limited to mandatory hearings and in-custody hearings only.

“Our main priority is to maintain access to the courthouses in Hennepin County,” said Judicial District Administrator Sarah Lindahl-Pfieffer. “We are also aware that court customers could encounter unpredictable delays due to traffic and parking, so have scaled back on non-emergency court hearings.”

We are making every attempt to avoid jurors being called to the Hennepin County Government Center the week of January 29. Due to anticipated congestion in downtown Minneapolis the day after the Super Bowl, the jury pool will be summoned for Tuesday morning on Tuesday, Feb. 6, instead of Monday, Feb. 5.
