Posted: Tuesday, October 13, 2009

The Fourth Judicial District / Hennepin County Family Violence Coordinating Council will host a Resource Fair on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis.

The Resource Fair will showcase Hennepin County organizations that provide services to children whose lives are affected by domestic violence.

A brief program will include remarks by Council on Crime and Justice President Pamela Alexander, about the impact of domestic violence from a child's perspective.

The Fourth Judicial District established the Family Violence Coordinating Council in 2003 for the purpose of addressing family violence issues.

The Council promotes interdisciplinary programs and initiatives to coordinate agencies, departments and the courts on issues of domestic violence and abuse; promote effective prevention, intervention and treatment techniques; and improve the response to domestic violence and abuse so as to reduce incidents of domestic violence and promote victim safety.

The Child / Juvenile Committee of the Family Violence Coordinating Council planned the Resource Fair to honor National Domestic Violence Awareness month in October.
