The public is invited to attend Anoka County Law Day on Friday, April 26, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Anoka County Courthouse and Government Center, 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka.

This free event celebrates the role of law in our society and aims to promote a deeper understanding of the legal profession.

Guided Courthouse Tours
Meet at the Government Center Atrium
Get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Anoka County Courthouse, with visits to real courtrooms and the chance to hear from a local district court judge or other justice system officials.

9:00AM - 3:00PM - Information Fair
Government Center Atrium, 1st floor
Visit an information fair designed to showcase the work of many of the justice system partners in the local community, share legal resources available to the public, and highlight new advancements in criminal justice and court technology being implemented across the state.

Information fair booths include:  Immigration, Economic Assistance, Judicare, Center for Excellence, Mediation Sevices, Alexandra House, Veteran Services

9AM - 3PM - Expungement of Adult & Juvenile Records
Government Center, 7th Floor
Central Minnesota Legal Services and Volunteer Lawyers Network will offer a presentation on the process for seeking expungement of adult and juvenile offenses from the court record.
 

Legal Advice Clinics


9AM - 3PM - Legal Clinic:  Family Law (Divorce/Custody/Child Support/Paternity)
Law Library E130, Courthouse
Attorneys will be available to discuss issues surrounding child support, driver's license payment plans for child support, custody, parenting time, paternity, contempt, divorce, domestic violence, waiver of court fees and costs, order enforcement, proper service, establishing court hearing dates, and other family matters that may come up after a divorce.

9AM - 3PM - Legal Clinic:  Driver's License
Courthouse, West, 4th floor
Representatives from Anoka County Court Administration, Child Support and the Department of Vehicle Services (DVS) will be on hand to assist in reviewing your DL record to determine why you are suspended, and assist in getting you all the information needed to get your license reinstated.  If it cannot be reinstated immediately, you will have received comprehensive instructions on what steps will still need to be taken to reinstate.

9AM - 3PM - Legal Clinic:  Adult & Juvenile Expungements
Government Center, 7th Floor
Central Minnesota Legal Services and the Volunteer Lawyers Network will offer a presentation on the process for seeking an expungement of adult and juvenile offenses from the court record.

9AM - 3PM - Legal Clinic:  Eviction Expungements
Government Center, Rooms 243 & 244
At 1:00p.m., Central Minnesota Legal Services and the Volunteer Lawyers Network will offer a presentation on the process for seeking criminal and eviction expungements from the court record.  After the presentation, volunteer attorneys will be available until 3p.m. to answer questions and provide assistance in filling out the appropriate court forms.

9AM - 3PM - Legal Clinic:  Outstanding Warrant Resolution
Courthouse, West, 4th floor
Those with an Anoka County warrant or case will have the opportunity to resolve outstanding warrants for criminal misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, and discuss resolution of outstanding issues in some felony cases; address matters regarding driver's license status and unpaid fines and fees.

9AM - 3PM - Legal Clinic:  Conservators/Power of Attorney/Guardianships
Government Center, Rooms 243 & 244
Auditors from the Conservator Account Auditing Program (CAAP) will be available to provide assistance with MyMNConservator and answer questions about conservator responsibilities.  Experts will be available to answer questions.  There will be a volunteer attorney available between 9:00a.m. and 3:00p.m. to answer questions and provide legal advice about guardianship.

9AM - 3PM - Legal Clinic:  Immigration

Between 9:00a.m. and 3:00p.m., a volunteer attorney from Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid will be available to answer questions and provide information regarding Immigration law issues.

Government Center, Rooms 243 & 244
Attorneys will be available to discuss issues relating to evictions, landlord/tenant disputes, debt collection, garnishment, social security disability, unemployment benefits and other non-criminal matters.  Volunteer attorneys will be available until 3:00p.m. to answer questions and provide assistance in filling out the appropriate court forms.

There is free parking in the Parking Ramp next to the Anoka County Government Center (enter on Van Buren St.).  There is also free three hour parking in the ramp on Jackson Street. Please see the Anoka County brochure for additional parking information.
