The Minnesota Judicial Branch has taken an historic step into the future with the decision to move state courts from a framework of paper files to an electronic information environment. This initiative will result in significant benefits for judges, court employees, attorneys, and most importantly, the hundreds of thousands of people served each year.
Timing
Effective Sept. 16, 2013, eFiling and eService in all 11 pilot courts will be mandatory for civil and family case types, excluding probate/mental health and conciliation court. Read the Supreme Court order (PDF), which also mandates that documents in all case types be eFiled in searchable PDF format.
It will take several years to roll out eCourtMN statewide.
