LSPC Emerging Leaders Forum
Minnesota has a long history of civil legal services programs working collaboratively to improve service for low-income Minnesotans. Our legal services and pro bono programs have had very solid leadership, as have the Supreme Court and MSBA committees that work on legal services policy. The Legal Services Planning Committee created the Emerging Leaders Forum in 2010 to develop leaders who will maintain and improve the Minnesota civil legal services system in the future.
The goals of the Emerging Leaders Forum are to 1) build peer relationships among attorneys passionate about civil legal services, 2) provide substantive training on leadership development and topics specific to the legal services delivery system in Minnesota, and 3) give participants opportunities to work on projects to improve access to justice in our state.
Any Minnesota attorney with a strong interest in civil legal services who graduated from law school within the past 15 years was eligible to apply, with an application deadline of March 2010. The Planning Committee received 35 quality applications for 20 openings. Rather than turn away qualified applicants, the Planning Committee will conduct two sessions of the Emerging Leaders Forum. The first group will start in Spring 2010 and the second group will start in Fall 2011.
