Family Court Records
You can get copies of family court records (divorce decrees, custody and child support orders, etc.) by contacting the Hennepin County Family Court in person or by mail.
In Person
You can get a copy of a document at the Family Court Records Center (Rm. B-17), on the lower level of the Family Justice Center in Minneapolis.
NOTE: If you need a copy of something other than a divorce decree and the case is very new or older than ten (10) years, there may be a delay due to file availability. Call the Family Court Records Center at (612)596-1089 to see if the case file is available. In an emergency, the file may be ordered "next-day delivery," but extra fees apply.
By Mail
Fill out and mail us a Record Request Form (or write a letter) identifying the document you want, and include the court file number (if known), the names of both parties at the time the case was filed, the year the divorce was filed (up to 2-year span). Plain copies are $8.00 each and "certified" copies are $14.00 each. Mail your request and check made payable to "District Court Administrator" to:

You can case search cases to see the "Register of Actions," orders, judgments, and court calendars for publicly accessible District Court case records. NOTE: Online case information is NOT considered the official court record. Some records are only available at the courthouse. Electronic copies of public court documents are NOT available on MPA Remote at this time.
