Civil Cases: The plaintiff sues a defendant for monetary damages, replevin, or injunctions. The most common civil cases deal with contract, personal injury, wrongful death, and default judgments.
Tax Court Cases: Real estate tax cases heard by the State of Minnesota Tax Court Division in St. Paul.
Criminal Cases: Current felony and Minneapolis/St. Anthony misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor cases are stored with the Criminal Division on floor C-11 of the Hennepin Co. Govt Ctr. Older felony files are kept in the B-vault on floor B of the Hennepin Co. Govt Ctr. Domestic Violence related files are stored with the Criminal Division at the Hennepin Co. Public Safety Facility. Current Suburban misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor files are stored at the appropriate Suburban Courthouse locations.
Implied Consent Cases: Cases involving an individual whose drivers’ license is revoked by the State of Minnesota due to a Driving while under the influence offense.
Harassment Cases: A person who is a victim of harassment, from a non-related individual, may seek a harassment restraining order from District Court.
