Criminal Record Checks

This office provides criminal history checks for ONLY the following types of requests:

  1. Prosecutors or Probation offices.
  2. Adoption agencies for criminal, juvenile or domestic violence pursuant to M.S. §259.41.  Only substantiated records will be provided.
  3. Juvenile history for Human Service workers pursuant to M.S. §245A.04.

The central repository for statewide criminal history information is the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is designated by law to perform criminal history searches for both the public and government agencies.  Persons wishing to obtain criminal history information should contact the BCA at (612) 642-0610 or on the web at https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/bca/pages/criminal-history.aspx

If, as a result of a BCA search, you desire certain documents from Kandiyohi County District Court case files, they will be provided upon request and payment of required fees.  Our customer service window in the Kandiyohi County Courthouse is open from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  We are closed on holidays and weekends.
