Stevens county is located 165 miles from Minneapolis in West Central Minnesota.

The county seat is the city of Morris and the population 5,647, and the county population is 10,597.

The University of MN Morris offers a variety of activities for students and the community. The activities range from concerts, plays, speakers and art exhibits. A four year residential liberal arts college, UMM is noted for its challenging academic curriculum. Morris has a strong Public K-12 School System and a Catholic School for grades K-6. Morris is the hub of agricultural services and trend setting agri-businesses. United States Department of Agriculture North Central Soil Conservation Research located in Morris. The University of MN. Morris, West Central Experiment Station also in Morris.

Recreation:

Pomme de Terre City Park and campgrounds, Pomme de Terre Golf Course, Hilfred and Estelle Lee Community Center, Indoor pool at UMM, and an outdoor pool at the City Park.

Special events:

Prairie Pioneer days is the 2nd weekend in July in Morris. Alberta street dance is in July. Chokio Community picnic is held the 2nd Friday in June. Donnelly Threshing Bee is the last weekend in August. Morris Harvest Festival is the 3rd Saturday in September.  Hancock has its 4th of July Celebration and the Stevens County Fair in August.


Stevens County has a strong industrial community.
