Record Checks

How do I find out what is on somebody's court and/or criminal record?
You may search court records two ways:
You may search convictions on line at http://www.mncourts.gov/default.aspx?page=1927#termsConditions

or you can search court records from one of the public access terminals located at court facilities around the state.  Please check with your local court for hours of operation.

How do I view a court file after I have located a file number on the public access terminal?
A file may be viewed at the court location in the county where the file was opened. A clerk can assist you in determining which court location to visit in order to view a file.

In Dakota County: all felony and gross misdemeanor violations are located at the Hastings Judicial Center.  All probate files are located at the Hastings Judicial Center.

Does the court perform record checks by mail or phone?
No, court administration does not perform any record checks by mail or phone.
