"B-Vault" Record Center
Civil Search on computer: There are six (6) public computers available in the Record Center. You may search for civil records dating back to 1978.
Microfilm Search: Prior to 1978, civil records were kept on microfilm. These records date back to 1880. Plaintiff/defendant microfilm tapes are located in the Family Court Records Center, Family Justice Center, 110 South Fourth Street, Minneapolis, MN 55401-2279. The Record Center staff will assist you in searching for these older case files. You will need to know the names of the parties and the approximate date of the original filing of the case in order to find the file. The file will then have to be ordered by the Record Center staff.
Search for Civil Judgment: Civil judgments are kept for 10 years, at which time they expire. The files at that time can be destroyed if the judgment is not renewed. Copies of the judgments are kept in the file, microfilmed or electronically in the Record Center.
Naturalization search: Searches for declaration of intent papers and oath of naturalization papers are completed in the Family Court Records Center. They are kept on microfilm and copies can be obtained in the Family Court Records Center.
Judgment Search on Computer: A judgment docketed within the last 10 years may be searched on the public computers in the Record Center. If you need assistance the Judgment Department may help you.
You may search for other types of records on the Public Service Level (2nd floor) of the Hennepin County Government Center.
