Fine Amounts

The FIRST place to look to find out your fine amount is here. If your citation has not been entered yet, you may calculate your fine amount using the information below.

The citation (ticket) has numbers to Minnesota Statutes or local ordinances. Police Officers often abbreviate the statute or ordinance number. For example, 169.26(2)(a) means that the citation was issued under the jurisdiction of Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 169, Section 26, Subdivision 2, Paragraph a, for failure to stop at a railroad crossing.  Frequently, the issuing officer will just write 169.26S2. Make sure the description of the offense in the statute or ordinance matches the offense with which you are charged.  You may also search the Minnesota Statutes website directly. They are categorized by the type of offense and then by statute or ordinance number.

*A statute is a statewide law, a city ordinance is a law that only applies in an individual city or municipality.

*If the fine is not paid within 21 days a $5 late fee will be added.*

If you have recieved a citation with more than one (1) charge click here for instructions on "How to calculate your fine amount."
