Reimbursement for Parking

Please note:  The following information applies only to jurors in the Fourth Judicial District/Hennepin County District Court.

Employers that pay your regular wage or salary during jury service might ask to have your jury service pay turned over to them.  If your employer asks for your jury check, you are able to keep any parking expenses incurred as a result of your jury services..

Turn over to your employer the difference between the per diem and your parking expenses. Mileage pay is yours to keep.

Minnesota Statute 593.48: (http://www.revisor.leg.state.mn.us/stats/593/48.html) A juror may request reimbursement for additional parking expenses incurred as a result of jury duty, in which case the reimbursement shall be paid and the juror’s compensation for required attendance at sessions of court shall be reduced by the amount of the parking reimbursement. This law is effective January 1, 1995.

To calculate the amount for the employer:

  Total check amount
- Mileage
- Parking expenses
=Amount to employer

Submit parking receipts to employer to verify expenses.
