Parents Forever Classes
Divorce affects at least 1,230,000 U.S. children every year. When parents fail to deal constructively with custody, child support and other difficult separation and divorce issues, the pain for children and parents endures long after the separation is final. Parents Forever puts parents on the path to minimizing trauma for their children.
Parents Forever provides an educational experience that will help reduce the negative impact of divorce or separation on the children involved. The education classes help parents recognize that their joint roles as parents will continue long after the separation. Parents will learn skills in restructuring their parent/child relationships and plan for their children's futures.
Parents Forever was developed in response to Minnesota legislation requiring educational programs for divorcing parents in 1997.
2009 Classes:
Parents Forever, Blue Earth, MN - Faribault County
Session 1 classes are scheduled for January 8, 15, 22, 29, 2009 (Thursdays). Session 2 classes will be April 7, 14, 21, 28, 2009 (Tuesdays). Session 3 classes are as follows: September 8, 15, 22, 29, 2009 (Tuesdays). Classes will be held at the Faribault County Extension Office (next to the License Bureau in the Courthouse Annex) 412 N. Nicollet, Blue Earth, MN 56013. Class time is 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Registation Fee $50 per parent. For additional information call 507-526-6240 or 800-526-7428.
Parents Forever, Fairmont, MN -- Martin County
Parents Forever classes will be held on March 10, 17, 24, 31, 2009. Second Session classes will be held June 9, 16, 23, 30, 2009. Third Session classes will be held October 6, 13, 20, 27, 2009. All classes are held on Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at Five Lakes Elementary School, 714 Victoria Street, Fairmont, MN. Registration fee is $40. Parents Forever, Luverne, MN -- Rock County
Program sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings, February 24, March 3, 10, 2009. (In case of inclement weather a snow date of March 17, 2009 has also been set aside. Program times will be from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. each evening. For additional program information please contact the Rock County Extension Office at 507-283-1302 or 1-800-967-3349. Registration fee is $30.00 per person.
Parents Forever, Mankato, MN -- Blue Earth County
Class sessions will be held in Mankato Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. beginning January 20, 27, February 3, 10, 2009. Session 2 classes are scheduled for April 7, 14, 21, 28, 2009. Session 3 classes: June 2, 9, 16, 23, 2009. Session 4 classes: August 4, 11, 18, 25, 2009. Session 5 classes: October 6, 13, 20, 27, 2009. These classes will be held at Lincoln Community Center, Room 209, 110 Fulton Street, Mankato, MN. Registration and material fee is $65 per person. Brochure
Parents Forever, Marshall, MN -- Lyon County
Program sessions will be held on February 23, 24, 25, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Lyon County Government Center, 3rd Floor, 607 West Main Street, Marshall, MN. Cost per adult is $40.00. Parents Forever, New Ulm, MN -- Brown County
Class sessions will be held on October 7, 14, 21, 2009, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Gislason Law Office, 2700 South Broadway, New Ulm. Cost per adult is $35.00. Contact: Brown County Court Administrator's Office, 507-233-6671.
Parents Forever, Redwood Falls, MN -- Redwood County
This program session will be held on November 14, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the Public Health Conference Room. For additional information please contact Jennifer Syverson, Redwood County Human Services at 507-637-4050. A snow date has been tentatively scheduled for December 5, 2009. Registration deadline is Friday, November 6, 2009. Cost for this session is $50 (money orders only).
Parents Forever, Worthington, MN -- Nobles County
Parents Forever classes will be held on Tuesday evenings, May 12, 19, 26, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. These sessions will be held at the Former West School Building, 117 11th Avenue, Worthington, MN. The facilitator is Carrie Adams and guest presenters. Cost for the session is $40 per person.
