ST. PAUL, MN (March
6, 2002) – As set forth by Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Kathleen A.
Blatz in a July 12, 2001 order, the Minnesota Special Redistricting
Panel “…shall release a
redistricting plan that satisfies constitutional and statutory requirements
only in the event a legislative redistricting plan is not enacted in a timely
manner.”
If no legislative plan has been enacted by Tuesday, March
19, 2002, the statutory deadline for the Legislature’s adoption of a
congressional and legislative plan, the Panel intends to release its
redistricting plan in the standard course of appellate opinion releases slated
for that day. Opinions of the Minnesota
Court of Appeals are released every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. via the state court
system’s website.
If no legislative plan has been enacted or appears imminent,
the Panel intends to post its plan on the website at 1:00 p.m., March 19,
2002. The plan will be posted under the
“redistricting panel” link located on the home page of the website, at http://www.courts.state.mn.us.
Redistricting maps and accompanying Maptitude reports will
be available for viewing online. For
anyone wishing to download the plans, block equivalency files will also be
available under the “redistricting panel” link.
