Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board
Adopts Opinion No. 21.

At its October 2009 meeting, the Lawyers Board adopted
Opinion 21 r
egarding a lawyer's duty to consult with a client
about the lawyer's own malpractice.

Rules on Lawyers Professional
Responsibility - effective July 1, 2009

In March 2009 the Supreme Court approved
amendments to the above procedural Rules effective
July 1, 2009.

Lawyers Board Adopts Opinion No. 20
At its June 18, 2009, meeting the Lawyers Professional
Responsibility Board adopted Opinion No. 20 regarding
the use of the word "Associates" in a law firm name.

Board Panel Manual
 

In a recent report, the Supreme Court Advisory Committee
to Review the Lawyer Discipline System recommended the
Manual be updated to include current case law and other
pertinent developments and that the Manual be posted
on the Lawyers Board Web site for easy access by all
concerned persons, as well as the public. 

Lawyers Board amends section I.6 of Appendix 1
to the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct
regarding trust account books and records.

Minnesota Lawyer Public Discipline
Search Now Available
Click the link on the menu to the left entitled
“Lawyer Search:  Public Discipline Record.”
Enter a lawyer’s last name.  A list of lawyers
will appear showing whether or not they are
authorized to practice in Minnesota and
if they have public discipline.  If they are
not authorized, it will state the reason.
Click on the lawyer you are inquiring about. 
If the lawyer has public discipline, there

should be a link to the Supreme Court
order or opinion.
