Minnesota Judicial Branch Special Redistricting Panel 2021

In an order dated June 30, 2021, the Minnesota Supreme Court appointed a special redistricting panel to hear and decide challenges to the validity of state legislative and congressional districts based on the 2020 Census.

2011 Redistricting

In an order dated June 30, 2021, Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Gildea appointed a panel of five judges to hear cases related to legislative and congressional redistricting based on the 2020 Census.

The judges appointed to the panel are:

Public hearings took place between October 11 and October 26, 2021.  Requests to make an oral presentation at a public hearing were due by Friday, September 24, 2021.  For information related to a specific hearing date or location, please visit the links below.

Courtroom 1 is located on the fifth floor of the Government Center. 

Security Information:
Please note that all attendees will be subject to security screening at the entrance to the courthouse.  The screening station includes an x-ray machine for property carried by attendees including purses, briefcases, wallets, cell phones, keys, change, belts with metal belt buckles and so on.  Attendees will be required to place all those items into a plastic bin to be scanned and will then be prompted to walk through a metal detector.  Property, including bags and purses, will not be hand searched unless something is visible on the x-ray that needs further identification.

The following is a partial list of dangerous weapons and/or unauthorized items that are prohibited from the Olmsted County Government Center:
            Firearms, including pellet and BB guns                      Ammunition
            Explosives                                                                   Electronic Control Devices
            Martial Arts Weapons                                                 Knives, including pocket knives
            Batons                                                                         Brass Knuckles
            Mace or Personal Defense Sprays                               Flammable liquids
This list is not all inclusive.  Safety Screening Station Staff are authorized to use their discretion in not allowing items not included in the above mentioned list.  All items deemed dangerous weapons and unauthorized are subject to seizure by Law Enforcement personnel. 

Free public parking is available after 5:00 p.m. at metered spots in the lot at the Government  Center.
