Minnesota Supreme Court Associate Justice Margaret H. Chutich will be inducted into Anoka High School’s Hall of Fame on Friday, September 21, at 6:35 p.m. The 1976 Anoka High School graduate recently returned to the school with the full Minnesota Supreme Court as a part of the Court’s 47th Traveling Oral Arguments. Justice Chutich will be one of 10 honorees Friday evening.

“It was such a joy to return to Anoka High School in the spring with the Supreme Court,” said Justice Chutich. “I am proud of my Anoka roots and delighted to be joining the School’s Hall of Fame. When I left Anoka High, it never entered my mind that I’d one day return to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Thank you to Anoka High School and sponsors for this honor.”

Justice Chutich lettered six times in varsity tennis and basketball during her time at Anoka. In her junior year, Justice Chutich came in second in the first-ever girls’ Minnesota State High School League tennis tournament, and in her senior year, she came in first. As a high school senior, she was co-captain of both the varsity tennis and basketball teams. While playing basketball for Anoka, she set a record, scoring 42 points in one game. She earned an Athena Award in recognition of her outstanding senior year athletic accomplishments. As an undergraduate, Justice Chutich played starting point guard for the varsity basketball team at Stanford University, and later played varsity tennis at the University of Minnesota. While playing for the University of Minnesota she won a Big Ten #6 Singles Championship and was runner-up at #1 Doubles.

Justice Chutich went on to earn her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. After years of public and private practice and four years on the Minnesota Court of Appeals, she was appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court in March of 2016.
