Judge Juan G. Hoyos

Appointed by Governor Mark Dayton on Sept. 8, 2014. Elected in 2016 and 2022. Current term expires December 31, 2028.
Bio:
Judge Hoyos earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law and his bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Before taking the bench, he worked as both a prosecutor and public defender in Ramsey County, handling serious felony cases. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law and has been a mentor in the St. Thomas Mentor Externship Program for 15 years. Judge Hoyos resides in Minneapolis with his wife and two daughters.
