Appointment announced Oct. 3, 2005, by Governor Tim Pawlenty. Elected in 2006, 2012, and 2018. Retired on May 6, 2022. Appointed and assigned to serve statewide as Senior Judge from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2025.

Employment:

Prior to being appointment to his current position, Judge Awsumb served as a private mediator and arbitrator in hundreds of civil disputes. He was also an attorney practicing in the areas of civil and commercial litigation from 1986 until 2005. From 1998 through 2005, Judge Awsumb was Chief Manager of R. A. Awsumb & Associates, PLC in St. Paul. From 1991 through 1998 he was Founding Partner and attorney at Rambow & Awsumb, P.A. in Bloomington. He was an associate attorney at Rider, Bennett, Egan & Arundel in Minneapolis from 1986 through 1991.
