Updated Registered User Filing Guide
Posted: Tuesday, November 30, 2021
All documents filed through the district court e-Filing system (eFS) need to comply with the technical and formatting requirements in the
Minnesota District Court Registered User Guide for Electronic Filing, which is published by the State Court Administrator’s Office.
See Minn. Gen. R. Prac. 14.03(g). The
Guide has been updated, as of November 29, 2021, to provide more clear direction on how to file stipulations and proposed orders. A stipulation and a proposed order based upon that stipulation need to be filed as two separate documents, so eFS can apply accurate file stamps to each document. For family court cases where court rules authorize the use of combined Joint Petitions for Dissolution and Marital Termination Agreements, filers must file two copies of the same document. eFilers who do not follow these filing guidelines will receive a Notice of Deficiency.
The updates to the
Guide also prohibit “PDF Portfolios” and “PDF Packages,” which are methods of combining multiple files together. PDF Portfolios and PDF Packages are incompatible with the Judicial Branch’s electronic court records systems.
The updated
Guide, along with other information about eFS, is posted at
