Supreme Court Announces Openings On Civil Rules Advisory Committee

The Supreme Court is seeking civil practice attorneys, judges, and court administrators to fill numerous vacancies on the Advisory Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure. The Advisory Committee is responsible for reviewing the rules of civil procedure and proposing amendments to those rules. Once appointed, the committee’s initial focus will include reviewing the rules for proposed or necessary amendments to accommodate electronic filing and service in the district courts.  Due to the anticipated schedule for implementation of electronic filing and service, the committee’s first meeting will be in September 2014.  Applicants must be able to participate based on committee’s intended delivery of a report to the Court, with recommended changes or amendments, by December 2014. Term of service is limited to three years, renewable at the discretion of the Court for an additional term.
