Supreme Court Announces Openings on General Rules Advisory Committee

Posted: Friday, May 30, 2014

The Supreme Court is seeking civil (including family and probate) practice attorneys, judges, and court administrators to fill numerous vacancies on the Advisory Committee on the General Rules of Practice for the District Courts. The committee is responsible for monitoring the rules, considering requests for rule changes, and making recommendations to the Supreme Court. The committee also reviews local court rules proposed by the individual judicial districts. Once appointed, the committee’s initial focus will include reviewing the rules for proposed or necessary amendments to accommodate electronic filing and service in the district courts. Due to the anticipated schedule for implementation of electronic filing and service, the committee’s first meeting will be in September 2014. Applicants must be able to participate based on the committee’s intended delivery of a report to the Court, with recommended changes or amendments, by December 2014. The term of service is limited to three years, renewable at the discretion of the Supreme Court for an additional term.

The application deadline is Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Persons interested in becoming a member of the committee should send a letter of interest and a resume to AnnMarie O’Neill, Clerk of the Appellate Courts, 25 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN, 55155.
