Heidi M. Chandler Appointed to Fill Ninth Judicial District Vacancy

Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Heidi M. Chandler as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District. Chandler is replacing the Honorable Jon A. Maturi, and will be chambered at Grand Rapids in Itasca County.
 
“Ms. Heidi Chandler has shown an unwavering commitment to justice throughout her distinguished career as a prosecutor, in private practice, and as a judicial law clerk,” said Governor Dayton. “Ms. Chandler’s exemplary commitments to community and public service have prepared her well for this important role.”
 
Chandler is an Assistant Itasca County Attorney, where she prosecutes adult criminal cases including felonies, gross misdemeanors, and misdemeanors. Previously, she was an associate attorney at Undem Law Office and a judicial law clerk to the Honorable John R. Hawkinson in the Ninth Judicial District. Chandler earned her B.A. from the College of St. Benedict and her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law. 
 
Chandler is the Chair of the St. Joseph’s School Board and the past president of the Itasca County Bar Association and the Minnesota Business & Professional Women Grand Rapids Chapter.
 
Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District consists of Aitkin, Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, and Roseau Counties.
