Advisory Committee to Hold Public Hearing on Recognition of Tribal Court Orders and Judgments

The Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on General Rules of Practice has asked been asked by the Court to advise it regarding the recognition of tribal court orders and judgments.  The recognition of tribal court orders and judgments is currently governed by Rule 10 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice.
 
The advisory committee is specifically considering the Petition of Minnesota Tribal Court/State Court Forum to Amend Rule 10, filed November 30, 2016, and its accompanying Appendix. The committee has scheduled a public hearing for Friday, March 31, 2017, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Room 230 of the Judicial Center in St. Paul, to receive testimony on the matter from interested individuals.
 
If you would like to make a brief, oral statement to the committee, please submit a letter requesting to appear and explaining in general the comments you intend to make, to the committee no later than March 17, 2017.  Please submit this by mail or email (email preferred) to the location below.  The committee reserves the right to limit all presentations appropriately.

If you would like to submit written comments only without making an oral presentation before the committee, please submit your comments to the committee no later than March 17, 2017 and explain in those comments that you do not intend to make an oral presentation (e.g. a simple title “Written Comments Only; No Oral Presentation Requested” is sufficient) . Please submit this by mail or email (email preferred) to the location below. The committee reserves the right to limit all presentations and comments appropriately.
