Supreme Court Announces Openings on Public Access Rules Advisory Committee

The Supreme Court is seeking citizens, lawyers, judges, court staff, and other justice system professionals interested in court record public access policy to fill numerous vacancies on the Advisory Committee on Rules of Public Access to Records of the Judicial Branch. The Advisory Committee is responsible for overseeing the Branch’s public access rules. Once appointed, the committee’s initial focus will include review of the rules regarding access to electronic filings and records in the district courts. Due to the anticipated schedule for implementation of electronic filing and service, the committee’s first meeting will be in September 2014. Applicants must be able to participate based on the committee’s intended delivery of a report to the Court, with recommended changes or amendments, by December 2014. Term of service is limited to three years, renewable at the discretion of the Court for an additional term.
